Download reportThe Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic at UiT The Arctic University of Norway delivered a Policy Brief on marine business parks to the Minister of Fisheries and the Sea, Cecilie Myrseth, on Tuesday, October 31. The document contained seven recommendations to enhance Norwegian sustainability and competitiveness through multiple-use and co-location at sea.
The background for the work was Norway's ambitious conservation goals at sea. Nature was to be at the centre of all spatial planning, where the political goal of ensuring maximum value creation within sustainable frameworks was guiding. Among other things, Norway was to produce more renewable energy and harvest more proteins from the sea, alongside other land-intensive activities. In this context, marine business parks could be a good way to organise activities, with climate and nature positivity as guiding principles.
